8th CQC outstanding rating for franchisor Home Instead Senior Care

10 November 2016

Franchisor Home Instead Senior Care has received an 8th outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – further endorsing its reputation as the UK’s no 1 homecare franchise network.

The brand’s latest outstanding rating has been received by its Coventry & South Warwickshire office set up in 2014 by Warwickshire businessmen, Phil Wright-Howarth and Phil Maundrill.

The outstanding news makes the franchise the first homecare company specialising in care for older people in Coventry & South Warwickshire to receive the highest rating in the CQC’s new Ofsted-style system. It also makes the Home Instead Senior Care brand the only homecare provider to hold 8 outstanding ratings.

In achieving the accolade, franchisees Phil and Phil join a select group. The CQC’s recently published report ‘State of Care 2015/16’, which gives an overview of health and social care in England, shows that 71% of adult social care services inspected (as at July 31st 2016) were rated good and only 1% were rated outstanding.

Commenting on the outstanding rating from a care perspective, franchisee Phil Wright-Howarth said: “We are truly putting the care back into caring and I am delighted that this has been recognised by CQC. The rating confirms we are getting it right. Care is delivered by caring and compassionate caregivers who love their work and who feel respected for what they do. The service is highly valued by our clients and their loved ones.”

Reflecting on the accolade from a franchise perspective, Phil Maundrill added: “We are delighted to have achieved a CQC outstanding rating, especially as we are such a young office.

“Achieving this stamp of approval from the social care sector’s regulatory body bears testament to very high standards set by Home Instead Senior Care as a franchisor and the excellent model they have introduced to the homecare sector. Needless to say, we follow that model diligently. It informs everything that we do.”

The franchise’s elderly clients and their families are enthusiastic about the service they receive. One client told the inspectors: “I have known my carers for a long time. I have three and they are all lovely. They couldn’t be more caring and are always willing to do extra things for me that need doing. They are like family members.”

And a client’s relation added: “I’ve used other agencies in the past and have had to change because what they promised was never delivered. Since being with this agency it has been such a weight off my mind because I know I have reliable carers and the service just does everything that it says it will do. I would certainly recommend them to anyone else.”

CQC inspectors said relatives were universally happy with the service that people received. They saw an email Home Instead had received from a family member praising the care staff and service. Comments included: “In choosing your company to care for the most precious person in our lives at such a vulnerable and traumatic time was not a light decision. It was vital your ethos, approach and drive for quality personalised care was not just stated in your website but that your teams enacted those values and approach every moment of giving care – that has never wavered and for that we are truly grateful.”

The company’s caregivers were also praised in the report by CQC inspectors who stated that ‘People were supported with kindness, dignity and respect. Staff were patient and attentive to people’s individual needs and staff had a good knowledge and understanding of people’s likes, dislikes and preferences. People were supported to be as independent as possible by staff who showed respect for people’s privacy and dignity.’

There are 130 territories available with Home Instead Senior Care as well as territory resale opportunities across the UK.
