18 December 2014

After weeks of rehearsals the big event finally arrived for hundreds of primary school children across Norwich as they performed dance routines that dazzled the OPEN venue crowd in Norwich.

The dancing showcase took place on Wednesday 10th December 2014, at OPEN venue in Norwich City Centre. The popular event sold hundreds of tickets with this year’s theme being ‘The Elements’.

The showcase was designed to help each dance group to be as creative as possible. Songs & ideas have been explored throughout the rehearsal weeks & each individual group has interpreted the theme in their own style.

The event, organised by national performing arts company, Premier Performing Arts have provided specialist dance instructors to support each school providing expert choreography, inspiration & encouragement as well as promoting a healthy dose of friendly competition.

Kirsty Macaré Cook from Premier Performing Arts commented:

“It’s extremely rewarding to witness the combination of all the dance professionals hard work and the commitment from the children that has allowed us to make this show possible. The support from all the parents & the schools has been fantastic. Its was incredible to see them shine like the little stars that they are up on that big stage.”

In true Strictly Come Dancing style, the performances was scored by three expert judges, each bringing their own expertise to the judges table. Mr Ian Burchett the Director of Teaching for the Inspiration Trust who scored the dances for their educational links. The second judge is Frankie Worthington; National Creative Director for Premier Performing Arts who was looking for the performer’s ability to engage with their audience through dance and creativity. Our final judge was the voice of the parent; Louise Sillet has worked in childcare for over 10 years and a mother of two primary school children. She judged based on sheer enjoyment & engagement through fun.

Special guests, Framtastic’s Performance Group’ also perform live. The gymnastics' group, choreographed by Premier Performing Arts are still on cloud nine after performing for Olympic gymnast, Beth Tweedle at Framingham Earl Sports Centre’s annual display.
