énergie Outlines 2014 Strategy

28 February 2014

The énergie Group has outlined its plans for growth in 2014, which its CEO, Jan Spaticchia says is ‘our biggest expansion plan in énergie’s 10 year history’.

The company, which currently operates near 100 gyms and clubs nationally and internationally, is set to open 40 additional sites in the UK by the end of the year, which will consist of 30 Fit4less gyms, six énergie Fitness For Women and four énergie Fitness Clubs. Spaticchia adds: “These are all confirmed agreements and in the final stages of completion that will open this year and take our total number of UK and international sites to well over 125.”

The Fit4less low-cost model is currently the most popular franchise investment within the Group following the industry focus on budget gyms, however, the Group confirms that its women only brand and Fitness Clubs is continuing to receive interest; particularly under the remodelled concept.

The Group recently launched its new model énergie Fitness Club in Cork, Ireland, which has taken the existing mid-market model and created an ultra-modern fresh new look. Cork includes two studios to accommodate a variety of group workout offerings, Ireland’s first Bilt lateral weight training equipment – developed by tennis star Andre Agassi – and a pioneering salad bar concept from Dublin outfit Chopped. Although not all exact features will run throughout future Fitness Club openings, the pilot club will set the precedent for the brand’s quality of style and finish.

Spaticchia says: “We are very proud of the Cork énergie Fitness Club. It is a long way away from our first Fitness Club and opens a new era of club for our customers to enjoy. We know there is still a large demand for good quality fitness clubs and we are prepared to invest and work with our franchisees to create desirable and first class fitness clubs that ultimately deliver results.”

The latest Fit4less clubs to open in Cricklewood and Highbury (both North London) could be on course to reach their three year target of 2,100 members in a matter of months rather than years with Cricklewood selling over 1,000 memberships in the last three months and Highbury on the verge of passing the 1,000 member mark within just two months of opening!

The Group announced earlier this month that, through its partnership with Abbey International Finance, it will also open 30 further sites across Ireland.
