Dog Boarding Company to support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in 2014

17 January 2014

Throughout 2014 dog boarding company Wagging Tails will be supporting Hearing Dogs for Deaf People with the aim of raising valuable funds and awareness for the charity.

Nearly 10 million people in the UK experience some degree of hearing loss. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People aim is to offer greater independence, confidence and companionship to as many of these people as possible by creating life-changing partnerships between deaf people and hearing dogs specially trained to alert them to chosen everyday sounds.

Commenting on the partnership Michele Jennings, Chief Executive at Hearing Dogs For Deaf People, stated;

"Hearing Dogs for Deaf People are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Wagging Tails' Charity of the Year for 2014. We aim to help as many deaf adults and children as we can through training clever, loveable dogs and supporting them for ten years or more, and it's fantastic to have the support of Wagging Tails in raising money and awareness for our charity. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is funded entirely by the generosity of the public and we are really looking forward to meeting Wagging Tails' franchisees and customers throughout the year."

Wagging Tails’ support for Hearing Dogs wil include company mascot  “Bernie the St Bernard” (Director Jim Suswain in a dog suit) taking part in a number of running events for the charity, fund raising at regional county shows throughout the year, an option for owners to make a small donation to the charity when they book their dog's holiday and a section on their website dedicated to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Following a recent visit to Hearing Dogs headquarters in Buckinghamshire Wagging Tails Director Lisa Suswain had this to say,

“Hearing Dogs is a truly inspirational organisation. Hearing loss can be hugely debilitating and the work of Hearing Dogs has a real impact in improving the quality of the life experienced by those people lucky enough to receive one of their trained dogs. We are really excited to be working with Hearing Dogs and helping them in any way we can.”
