Select Appointments welcomes the news that growth in the UK permanent job market is to continue for at least the next two years.

The latest figures show that the number of permanent job vacancies rose by around 30% last month compared to the same time in 2013.

Sue Dodd, Director of Agile Intelligence, and an expert in analysing the UK job market, said in her report: “The growth in the permanent market is well supported by what we are hearing from companies, and is clearly supported by workforce evidence. As business confidence has increased, there has been more willingness to make permanent hires.

She adds: “As the jobs market picks up, we can expect this to continue for a year or two with the permanent market remaining healthy, depending on the economic cycle.”

These findings are backed up by the latest employer survey from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) that shows that eight out of ten employers are planning to hire more people in the next three months.  The REC’s monthly tracking survey reveals that the proportion of employers saying they need new staff to meet increased demand has risen from a quarter at the turn of the year to over a third.  Moreover, the survey reveals that half of all employers plan to increase use of agency workers in the next three months.

Graeme McKinnon, managing director of Select Appointments, says these are definitely positive signs the UK job market is in recovery and everyone who is seeking employment, now and in the future, should be very encouraged by this trend.
