Sizzling summer for Suit the City

05 September 2017

Bespoke tailoring consultancy, Suit the City, has enjoyed a spectacular season: its longest-serving franchisee reported a record month in July, with the head office operation seeing similarly strong summer demand as well as two new franchisees joining the network.

Tony Carr, who owns the Suit the City Guildford franchise, saw several high-value sales boost his turnover almost 50% in July compared to June, for his best-ever month. The pair of new franchisees hoping for similar success are Mike Lane, who opened Suit the City’s first studio, in Bath, in July; and Adam Cleary, who will launch shortly near Leeds.

Meanwhile, the head office branch run by Suit the City directors Carol Rawson and Sallie Belton has been equally productive, with concerted networking bringing in plenty of new clients in recent months.

Carol said: “This is our third consecutive busy summer, a time when things can be traditionally a little quieter with the holidays, so this is particularly great news all round. We’re thrilled to welcome Mike and Adam into the network and looking forward to helping them both succeed.”

Of Tony’s results, she added: “This business is all about people and Tony’s a shining example of that. He’s put a lot of work in on building long-term relationships and educating people, which is now driving repeat business and returning clients. He’s really enjoying all the networking – he says it’s much more fun than being sat in an office all day!”

Tony commented: “I do this business because I enjoy it, getting out and meeting new people, getting to understand what they want. A lot of the skills are similar to when I was a retail director, but fortunately the hours are nothing like that… and I get to choose them!”

Sallie said: “We’re talking to some really interesting people and it’s exciting for us to help more franchisees start their own business. We think Tony might have to watch over his shoulder if he wants to keep hold of the monthly record for long!”

Suit the City franchisees advise on their clients’ needs, with all garments produced offsite by specialist tailors.
