Mac Tools celebrates 2013 with three new franchisees

29 January 2013

Mac Tools are going strong into the New Year with three new franchisees joining their UK network this month. They are excited to announce that Colin Childs, Dean Fitzgerald and Phil Brown have taken to the road in their shiny new black Mac Tools vans!

Mac Tools is part of Stanley Black & Decker, a $11+ billion global organisation employing over 30,000 people worldwide and owner of the world famous Stanley Black & Decker, Britool Expert, Facom and DeWalt brands.

Phil had been an automotive technician for nine years when he decided that it was time to become his own boss. The Mac Tools quality and service convinced him to run his own Mac Tools franchise in Swindon. “I used to be a technician and found out about the Mac Tools franchise through our Mac Tools distributor. The first few weeks on the road have been hard work but I am enjoying it, it’s been a real eye opener,” says Phil.

The Mac Tools line consists of over 8,000 professional tools including ratchets, wrenches, and assorted air tools, as well as its own toolboxes. Colin, Dean and Phil are now part of a network of over 100 trusted UK franchisees who distribute professional tools to customers such as car dealerships, automotive repair shops, manufacturing units, and engineering companies.

Colin has been an automotive sales manager for eight years and is now distributing Mac Tools tools in Lowestoft:

"I am now 43 years old and I have worked in the motor trade industry as a sales manager for many years. I feel the time is now right for me to be able to take greater control over my own future. I chose the Mac Tools franchise because it provides me with the right balance between income and leisure time,” explains Colin.

Dean’s brother–in-law operates the Mac Tools franchise in Kent and seeing him fulfil his dreams made Dean realise that it was time to exchange the wheel of his lorry against that of his new Mac Tools van in Coalville.

He completed Mac Tools’ comprehensive initial training along with Colin and Phil. He then received hands-on support from his Regional Franchise Manager as well as regular support from a dedicated team of staff at the European Headquarters in Sheffield. “The training was really great and it provided me with a real grounding of knowledge. My first few weeks out on the road have been brilliant as all of the garages are really receptive,” elaborates Dean.

Existing Mac Tools franchisees are typically earning gross profits ranging from £50,000 to £75,000 from one territory and there are various territories available across the country. Our territories typically include around 180 automotive locations making it bigger than those of similar franchise opportunities.
