Double celebration for Pest Control Franchise

NBC Bird and Pest Solutions has two reasons to celebrate.

The pest control franchise has reached a milestone of five years in franchising and achieved full member status with the BFA.

The NBC concept was the brainchild of the company’s MD, John Dickson, who has been a falconer since the age of 13. Back in 1993 he noticed a commercial demand for bird control services and with help from the Prince’s Trust he launched a company offering such services.

NBC Bird Solutions decided to franchise 11 years later, heralding significant geographic growth as well as expansion into new fields, reflected in the rebranding of the company as NBC Bird and Pest Solutions. NBC serves commercial and domestic consumers.

NBC employs the unconventional but equally effective method of using birds of prey to keep feral birds off buildings and away from waste disposal sites, hotels, shops etc. Under the auspices of a well-trained franchisee, hawks and falcons are adept at scaring away even the most tenacious of airborne vermin, such as pigeons and gulls.

NBC also installs a wide range of bird proofing as well as resolving and preventing problems with rats, mice, wasps, cockroaches, fleas, insets, ants and bedbugs.

The recession has had minimal impact on the pest control market, as pest are an year-round nuisance that can’t be ignored, making pest control a necessity, not a luxury.

Portsmouth and Southampton franchisee Tim Lester’s wry comments reflect the bullish mood among the NBC fraternity: “Someone told me today that we are heading for a recession – and I told him that I didn’t intend to participate".

NBC’s upgrade to full BFA membership is a testament to its success, sustainability and ethical approach. NBC are supporters of Think Wildlife, The Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU), which means they ensure that their pest control methods do not have adverse effect on surrounding wildlife.

Kelly Smith, NBC’s franchise business manager, says:

“There are now 35 franchisees in the network, which enables NBC to confidently manage all enquiries that come in through the central call centre from almost anywhere the UK. Following a series of recent national account wins under the wings of NBC, the sky really is the limit.”

There are still excellent franchise territories available across the UK, such as Brighton and Blackpool.
