Potential For Growth In UK Home Care Franchise

Right at Home franchisee, Paul Trinder, says the huge potential for growth in the UK home care market is the main reason why he was attracted to Right at Home.

Right at Home is a global leader in the home care market. It has more than 400 locations on four continents. After successfully reaching the $1 billion sales mark in the US, the homecare franchise has seen tremendous success in the UK, Brazil, China, Canada and Ireland in recent years.

Paul, who took over the Bristol franchise in November last year, has a background in chartered accountancy and has spent most of the last twenty years working overseas. He had no hands-on experience of this sector when he started, so needed to take full advantage of the excellent training and support Right at Home provides.

He explains: “After working for 20 years away from the UK I returned and was unsure what I wanted to do. I was attracted to franchising as I wanted to work for myself with no one looking over my shoulder, but with a support network behind me. I also wanted to move away from the corporate world. So I spoke with a few franchise consultancies, and Right at Home was suggested to me.

“I was instantly attracted to this idea as the opportunity for growth in the home care market is massive. This sector is expanding all the time, and the provision is just not there to cater for the demand. I also knew the competition in my area was not providing a great service, so there was a huge gap in the market in Bristol. The fact I would be providing a service that would make a real difference to people’s lives was another big plus. The home care market has not always had the best press, but Right at Home is a company with real ethics which does things the correct way – namely always putting the needs of the customers first.

“I started in November 2013, and so far it has gone very well. I trained in July 2013, and learned a lot, very quickly. In fact, I would say since I started I have been on a constant learning curve, which is a good thing as this means the service we are providing is constantly evolving and improving. The first year, as I was told it would be, was very hard work, but we are reaping the benefits now. Our name is now getting well known in the local area and we are getting more clients as a result. We have 23 clients just now, with enquiries coming in all the time.

“I currently have a small team, with 4 office staff and 15 carers. Finding the right staff can be tough, as being a carer is not for everyone. I obviously have to make sure my staff keeps up the high standards that I, and Right at Home, demand from them.

Paul adds: “I would definitely recommend a Right at Home franchise to others. The home care market is one of the biggest growth markets in the UK currently, so if someone is willing to put in the hard-work they will be rewarded – after all we will all need help when age catches up with us eventually.”
