Why I decided to Join Rathbone Results

- As an experienced MD, in both owner-managed SMEs and corporates, and with the intention to transition to retirement over the next few years,  I wanted to continue to use my skills and sector knowledge to support businesses to develop and grow.

- I believe that my ‘unique combination’ of managerial experience and detailed knowledge of hazardous, industrial and life safety markets would enable me to identify and work with clients who need help and expertise to develop new revenue streams while they continue to focus on their core business.

- The flexibility of the Rathbone Results model allows me to achieve the right life/work balance to spend quality time with my ever-expanding family and menagerie while working with the companies I choose, or who choose me! 

The Training Process

After the five training days, I fully understood the Rathbone Results methodology. It gave me confidence to use the Rathbone Results Model with clients, to talk through it at a high level and in detail as the client situation requires. The training session was almost a master-class, full of case studies and practical examples.

Rathbone Results Support

Right from the start, support kicked in. I won my first client within 3 months after going to market. The breadth of support stretches from administrative help (setting up my email address, sorting out business cards and making standard documents available) to help in business development (proofing, refining and loading my website profile and demonstrating during the training session how to use LinkedIn to run a lead generation campaign). The support has been greater than anticipated, accelerating my successful start as an independent consultant.

Where am I now and what am I looking forward to:

Having completed the training programme, I am:

- Working with 2 significant clients for an average of 10-12 days per month.

- Investing in and supporting a spin-out business from Sheffield University to develop, manufacture and market specialist instrumentation for industrial applications.

- Registered as an industry expert with a leading information provider and regularly taking paid consultancy calls with their clients to provide information on industry trends and competitive dynamics.

- Investing in and supporting a small local real-ale manufacturer to stabilise, develop and grow their business. 

 

I look forward to continuing to invest in and support local businesses and develop specialist new clients, in my sector, while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
