Two new Radfield Home Care franchises join growing network

24 April 2018

One of the UK’s top 100 franchises, Radfield Home Care has welcomed two new franchises to its growing network of home care business owners.

Father and son team, Matthew Nutting and Jonathan Nutting have joined the network operating a new franchise in Harrogate, and Shamsah Lalji will be operating in London’s Kingston and Richmond territories.

Despite being at opposite ends of the country, Shamsah, Jonathan and Matthew have all recently completed their first week of franchise training together at Radfield Home Care’s National Office, focusing on marketing, business ownership and the home care industry. They will now look to complete their second week of training, which focuses on operations, software and compliance, and launching their new branches in the coming weeks.

Shamsah, who worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over a decade, wanted to manage her own business so that she could give back to the community in a meaningful way: “I grew up in a household living with my grandmother and an aunt who has certain physical disabilities. I witnessed the importance of home carers first hand and the impact they had on my entire family’s quality of life and peace of mind. The carers became an extended part of the family!”

After spending considerable time researching a number of franchises, Shamsah decided Radfield Home Care aligned with her values and decided to join the growing network: “I knew that I wanted to launch a home care business and provide high quality care to those in need; helping them to live safer, happier and more fulfilling lives in their own home.

I contacted Jennie and Lisa from Radfield’s Havering franchise - who I had met when I was conducting my preliminary research - to learn about their experiences with the Radfield network. They only had positive things to say. This was very encouraging to hear and it sparked my initial interest in Radfield. Once I met with franchisor, Hannah and learnt more about the company’s values, which were very much aligned to mine, I was confident that they were the right fit for me.”

With a career as an Occupational Therapist within the NHS, Matthew has had a lot of touch points with the home care sector through his working life and was well aware of the benefits a quality-led home care service could bring to his community’s local residents: “Both my wife and I have always worked within healthcare, so we have a lot of knowledge of the home care sector. This meant it was essential for us to choose a franchisor that echoed our values and focussed on high standards of care helping older people remain independent”, Matthew said.

“My father, Jonathan has worked in various large organisations in a range of senior finance roles, so our combined skills will help us grow a sustainable business whilst keeping our clients at the centre of what we do.”

Despite Radfield being established in 1982 as a residential care home and offering home care services since 2008, Radfield Home Care’s franchise opportunity only launched in mid-2016. However, it has already achieved top 100 franchise status, its franchises are exceeding their business plans, and is the first UK healthcare organisation to achieve B Corporation status - a global movement promoting ethical practices in business, similar to how FairTrade supports the coffee industry.

Radfield Home Care franchisor, Dr Hannah MacKechnie briefly commented on the organisation’s growth so far: “We are really proud of what we have achieved in less than two years. Since we began our franchise journey back in July 2016 we have double the number of franchisees in the network than we projected - all of whom are extremely high calibre. To have such a high level of interest from numerous individuals so early on really demonstrates the strength of our model.”

With franchise opportunities available across the UK, including the London region, Radfield Home Care is currently seeking entrepreneurs looking to launch their own rewarding franchise in the multi-billion pound healthcare sector. If you would like to find out more, contact us.
