UK's biggest kitchen makeover retailer celebrates 40,000 kitchen installations

10 August 2015

Dream Doors, the nationwide kitchen facelift specialist, is celebrating the sale of its 40,000thkitchen installation since it first began trading in 1999.

The landmark sale was made by Katie and Sean Hebdon, owners of the Dream Doors franchise in Chandlers Ford near Southampton.  The sale was made to customers Mr and Mrs Bennion from Romsey who were presented with a hamper of luxury foods and drink to enjoy in their new kitchen.

Dream Doors is the UK’s largest franchised kitchen door replacement company, with 57 showrooms across the country. Managing Director Troy Tappenden, has noticed a change in the way kitchens are viewed over the past 16 years, with people becoming more interested in cooking and keener for their kitchens to look and feel better than ever before.

“The transformation of 40,000 kitchens since we first started is a mind-boggling achievement,” he said. “Since we began trading, people have become increasingly keen for their kitchen to look good – it has become the most important room in the house for many families in the UK.  Nearly every single one of our 40,000 transformations will have been completed in 48 hours and for a fraction of the cost of a full re-fit. That’s why Dream Doors is such a good franchise opportunity: there is an on-going requirement for people to update their kitchen but people don’t want the expense or disruption that comes with a full re-fit.”

Dream Doors is on target to turnover more than £25M in 2015, as the consumer appetite for kitchen makeovers shows no sign of abating. The company was also recently recognised nationally at the prestigious 2015 bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards, where it won the Franchisee Recruitment of the Year Award.

Husband and wife team and sellers of the 40,000th kitchen, Katie and Sean Hebdon, have owned their Dream Doors showroom since January 2012 and it is one of the most successful franchises in the Dream Doors network. A previous winner of the ‘Outstanding Performance of the Year’ award from Dream Doors head office, Katie feels the support they get from Dream Doors is integral to their on-going success.

“We are delighted to help Dream Doors reach this landmark sales milestone and are extremely proud that we made the sale,” said Katie. “Each of our sales is important to us and we endeavour to make sure we treat all our customers as VIPs and are very proud of our average score of 9.7 on Checkatrade. We get a lot of marketing and sales support from Dream Doors, which combined with the consumer interest in kitchen makeovers makes for a really successful business.”

Dream Doors allows customers to completely overhaul their kitchen for less than 40% of the cost of a full re-fit, by replacing work surfaces and doors to create a completely fresh look. All doors are made to measure in the UK, and are available in a vast range of colours, styles and materials.

Dream Doors also offers worktops, a large range of appliances and sinks, as well as lighting and tiling to achieve a new look kitchen. The company is looking to build on its success with a new training facility later this year, designed to ensure the highest levels of customer service across all its stores and franchises.

“We offer all our franchise owners extensive training to deliver the best customer service and want to ensure that continues and gets even better,” said Troy Tappenden, MD, Dream Doors. “I am extremely proud of the work put in by all the Dream Doors franchise owners across the country in reaching this milestone – here’s to the next 40,000 kitchens!”
