How we launched Management Construction (North East) Ltd

Back in the 1970s & 80s, we (man and wife) ran our small building company, as a traditional general contractor in York City UK. The bulk of our business was with the City Councils building department.

NHS hospital upgrades were also undertaken. Those projects were delivered, certified complete and accounts settled without delay . Delivering domestic projects as a general building contractor was often tedious and some times a problem getting paid; without a struggle. 

The new “Construction Management” genre - fee based building delivery system - recently arrived in the UK. from North America was the way forward. Personally experienced, as a Quantity Surveyor - Pre and post contract - the new Construction Management genre was undoubtedly the way forward.

Coupled to extensive project and construction management experience our decision was not difficult. For two and a half decades, Management Construction (North East (Ltd) – our Consultancy - delivered mainly commercial buildings. Domestic projects were, occasionally, undertaken and managed as for the commercial projects. Our, Management Construction, system worked, for two and a half decades, continually well for us and for the other stake holders in the projects delivered. Hence the reason for Management Construction (North East) Ltd being nominated for and awarded; “UK. Best Building Delivery System”.
